The transponders mount on either the windshield or front license plate, but since I opted out of installing the Tesla Model S front license plate bracket, I’ll have to mount my EZ Pass using the former. I drive toll roads each and every day and without the EZ Pass transponder I’d be stuck in long lines every time I tried to get on and off the highway. It’s used across 14 states with most of them being here in the north east. i've had tolls that got billed to my plate before when my tag didnt register, same e-zpass pricing.EZ Pass is an automated electronic toll-collection system which expedites passing of roads, bridges and tunnels. I believe in NYC as long as you have your plate registered with e-zpass its fine, no additional fees. These images may be used to post toll charges at the cash rate and/or additional administrative fees to your Account. Failure to properly mount your Tag may also result in images being taken of your license plate to identify the registered owner and the addition of your license plate to your Account based on motor vehicle registration records. ![]() Failure to do so may result in your Tag not being read in the lane, the gate not being raised at some facilities, and may result in a violation for which you may be assessed administrative fees or other penalties as provided by law. Our other cars have allowed for the pass to go behind the rear view mirror, so we’ve not had to think about this before.īe careful when placing transponder in an invisible or hidden location. If others have put it in the dotted area- have you had any issues? Next, is there anything ‘special’ about the dots on the windshield? At some point I thought I read something about lack of transmittability through the dotted area on the BMW windshield- though now can’t find what I thought I read. The idea was to place it horizontally there so it woudl run the full length of the base. I wasn’t sure if putting it too close to that would cause any issues (including fogging in front of the cameras/sensors housed in the ‘venting’). First, the base of the rear view mirror on the windshield looks like it has ‘venting’ around it. However, I’m a bit uneducated on a few things. I was looking at the passenger side of the rear view mirror towards the top of the windshield. Curious where others have mounted theirs that keeps it out of the way and out fo sight lines? ![]() It’s much easier for us to have it mounted in the car rather than trying to pull it out at tolls. IL still uses a ‘brick’ toll pass instead of plate technology. ![]()
